Bryn’s EnvironMentors 2022-23 Research Project

Project Description: Climate change and human-driven disturbances can affect the quality of water in freshwater streams. For example, in the Northeast United States, impacts of climate change include increased frequency and intensity of storm events, increased temperatures, and changing season lengths, all of which can impact various processes in a watershed that influence stream water quality. In this project, students will choose their study site and the specific chemical species that they would like to focus on, depending on their interests. They will learn about the climate and various characteristics of their chosen study site (e.g., vegetation, soils, and geology). Students will study the behavior of different chemical species in response to various effects of climate change by analyzing streamflow and streamwater quality data.
