Penn State EnvironMentors Research Symposium

Each academic year, Penn State EnvironMentors hosts a research symposium at the end of the spring semester at University Park. The symposium is the cumulative event, during which our high school student participants present posters that summarize their research projects to families, friends, and members of the Penn State community.  The 2024 symposium will be on Saturday, April 6th at University Park.  Participants will be emailed information about the symposium so make sure to regularly check your email!

2023

In April, 2023, over 25 students presented their posters, with several students advancing on to the EnvironMentors National Science Fair, which was held in Washington, DC in June.  At the National Science Fair, five high school students from the Penn State program received awards, including the first-place prize, third-place prize, the Environmental Justice Award and the Public Health Award.

Previous EnvironMentors Research Symposia

At the end of Penn State EnvironMentors’ first year, we held our first chapter symposium in person. Three of our high school students were selected to represent our Penn State chapter during the EnvironMentors National Science Fair in 2019.  The following two years the Research Symposiums was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
