The 2020 Virtual S.T.E.M Showcase

In light of the COVID-10 pandemic, the Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE), the parent organization for the EnvironMentors program, has canceled the 2020 EnvironMentors National Science Fair. The National Science Fair is held annually in Washington D.C in the spring semester of each academic year. Furthermore, due to Penn State’s closing of its campuses, we were also unable to hold our Penn State EnvironMentors Poster Symposium. Despite the current crisis and challenges, our student participants and their mentors persevered and worked extremely hard on their research projects. Consequently, to give our students the opportunity to present the projects they dedicated their time and efforts on throughout this year, we hosted our very first Virtual STEM Showcase this past Saturday, May 16th, 2020.

During the showcase, twelve of our high school student participants from Penn State University Park, Harrisburg, and Shenango campuses, presented their research projects to their families, friends, and members of the Penn State community. Their resilience, perseverance, and hard work paid off and were demonstrated during their individual when they presented their projects during the showcase. We Are extremely proud of our high school students for their great accomplishments this academic year. We also thank the faculty and undergraduate student mentors for their time and efforts dedicated to their mentees this academic year. We recorded the live virtual showcase.
