Dr. Peter’s EnvironMentors 2022-23 Research Project

Project Details: For this project, our team will create climate change education modules for the State College Area School District using the local built and natural environments. Anthropogenic (human-caused) climate change is altering the hydrological cycle all over the world. Warmer air holds more water, so rainfall peak events have changed. How do we see those impacts here in central Pennsylvania? How does it impact our local infrastructure? How does it impact our local ecosystems? How can we adapt to these changes? By exploring historical data, examining our buildings and stormwater infrastructure, and investigating our surface and groundwater in the Spring Creek Watershed, we will develop lessons that help middle and/or high school students to explore water and weather in Pennsylvania’s changing climate.
